Mathias is a postdoctoral researcher and a licensed cognitive-behavioral therapist. His work focuses on neuronal and psychophysiological mechanisms during sleep that contribute to the development of post-traumatic stress disorders. He completed his PhD in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy at the University of Hamburg in 2023 (supervised by Prof. Tania Lincoln), where he investigated the role of sleep in the formation and maintenance of psychotic symptoms. 

Mathias is a member of the Scientific Network for Experimental Psychopathology and Psychotherapy (SNEPP), funded by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG)
